Claiming Applewood Physiotherapy expenses from your Private health insurer

Everyone is keeping an eye on their expenses these days – make sure you are claiming physiotherapy expenses from your private healthcare provider. (Check your policy to see what level of cover you have. Your policy number is shown on letters or statements from your provider. (Most providers have a variety of plans so it’s best to check what level of cover you have with your individual provider)). Health insurance providers usually only cover treatment provided by a Chartered Physiotherapist (members are registered with the ISCP and CORU).
All the major Healthcare providers offer digital means to submit physiotherapy receipts – via their own apps or online using pc. Usually, the online process is relatively smooth (provided there is no issue with approving your claim).
Contact your own provider for forms to submit written claims.
VHI
Check your policy for level of cover for physiotherapy expenses.
VHI encourage members to download their app (called VHI) and to send photos of receipts using Snap and Send. Once you are ready to submit a clear photo of your Applewood Physiotherapy receipt you’ll be asked to add some additional details before sending. VHI usually send the money straight to your bank account (once you’ve set up this facility) and claims are usually dealt with within 10 working days.

Claim forms that you fill in and return are also still available from the VHI website.
TIME LIMITS: VHI accepts receipts within a “reasonable time frame” usually within your current renewal period and 2 previous renewal periods. Please check with VHI for up to date information on this.
LAYA Healthcare
Check your policy for level of cover for physiotherapy expenses.
Laya encourages clients to download their app (Laya App) to submit claims. Log in and click on member area to check your individual level of cover.
To submit your claim, take a photo / upload a photo of your Applewood Physiotherapy receipt and fill in the required information. Either add more receipts at this stage or submit one receipt at a time.
Laya claims are usually dealt with very promptly (within 5 working days).
TIME LIMITS: claims must be submitted within 12 months from the end of your policy year.

Irish Life Health

Irish Life Health also recommend use of their app – register for this using the usual details – you’ll need your Member number etc.to login.
To submit a claim click the Claims tab and upload a clear photo of your Applewood Physiotherapy receipt, fill in the required details and submit your claim. Irish Life usually send the money straight to your bank account (once you’ve set up this facility) and claims are usually dealt with within 5 working days.

Tax relief for Physiotherapy
Some medical expenses are not covered by the State nor by private health insurance and you may be able to claim tax back on some of these expenses. If you have Private Health Insurance you can claim tax relief on the portion of those expenses not covered by insurer. You can claim for expenses that you have receipts for.
